What to Expect

Location

Freedom2Function is a Rodney area-based therapy service. Depending on your child and family's needs, assessment and treatment can be carried out either at home or school. Clinic based and community-based group services are run from local community halls. 

Remote therapy can be accessed NZ wide. Picky eater support is Auckland wide, travel costs POA. 

Assessment Process

This is dependent on the Assessment Package that you select for your child.

Information Gathering

You will be sent a case history form before the assessment to gather all information about your child and your goals.

Report/Summary (if selected)

A Occupational Therapy Report will be completed and shared with family and any other relevant people in your child's life.

Therapy Sessions

Therapy sessions can take place in home, school or the community and will be structured to meet your child's individual goals.

Initial Assessment

Standardised/non-standardised assessments will be used to assess your child's current function within the areas of concern identified in the information gathering stage. This will be caried out at the child's home, school, kindy or community.

Once you have received and the report, a 30-minute consultation will be offered to go over any questions and recommendations for your child.

Re-Assessment

Depending on your child's programme, goals and progress re-assessment can be completed and adaptions can be made to their plan.

Therapy Sessions

Following the assessment process regular therapy sessions are recommended. Sessions are usually on a weekly basis and are individualised to meet your child's specific goals.

Duration of Sessions

Therapy sessions are advised for 6-12 months depending on your child's unique needs. Sessions can be between 30-60 minutes.
